Source of SNPs

More than 1000 likely candidate SNPs were screened from a variety of publicly available resources including previously identified parentage markers [Heaton et al. 2002] and SNPs from the bovine genome project.  Markers derived from the bovine genome project and efforts to construct whole-genome radiation hybrid and linkage maps [McKay et al. 2007] comprised about 75% of the final set of "121 parentage SNPs".
